Warning for crispy bacon lovers …
I liked the service and environment here, especially the outside benches while waiting for my orders. I loved the fox latte and enjoyed the kouign-amann with its brûlée saucer (though it’s so sweet about half of it was plenty for me). The mañana burrito was super hot - if you have a long commute I think it will still be warm at the end of it; I walked a block to my car, had the latte and kouign-amann and played Connections waiting for it to cool enough to take a second bite. So, I reckon it was safe to eat the bacon inside since the burrito was hotter than Hades. However, that bacon was absolutely not crispy and no matter how hot it has been I can never feel that pale, elastic bacon is safe to eat (nor do I enjoy its taste with that texture). So as soon as I saw the whitish bacon I had to open up the burrito and remove it with my fingers … note it almost burned my fingers; I had to be careful; and it’s lucky I carry a whole package of napkins in the car because it was naturally a mess. The quantity and quality of cheese and avocado were good, and one egg was jammy which is my favorite, though the other was hard-fried. As you can see there was also a good quantity of bacon. I feel this is a good quality burrito but as a person who only trusts and likes crispy bacon, I won’t be ordering this flavor burrito again.
I came here to kill a few hours reading on a Monday morning and was really happy with my decision. I had the most delicious and unique pastry — a spam and kimchi croissant. So good! I started with a hot coffee and a few hours later, ordered an iced matcha and a kouign amann. The inside is a bit busy and cramped but there are several tables and benches for visitors to get comfy. I can’t wait to visit again next time I’m in Culver!
Tried the blended Ice Vanilla Bourbon Latte and it was really good. Definitely worth coming back. The space inside is small and for some one like me who hates small spaces and crowds just made me feel uncomfortable. The girls working were really sweet and nice. Definitely recommend this place.
I usually feel the same way about all LA hipster coffee shops, and after coming to this place for my first time a few weeks back during an art walk, I did walk away thinking they were impressive. So my wife and I stopped back this past Saturday for a much needed pick me up. Now I usually go in with my reviews, but I'll keep it short this time. Customer service, not the best. Either time I've been here. Unless you're a young lady, then you get all the acknowledgment (we didn't even get a hello when we walked in) Their prices are standard LA coffee shop prices. Still a little on the high end, but I will admit, their really good so worth it some might say.
Past about two years, I've really been into organic, single origin coffee, and this place thus far has my attention. It's fantastic. I live a few blocks away, so I'd have to fight going often, but I'll definitely be making this my new regular shop. The pastries are good as well. We got a few and my wife and I loved the cinnamon rolls. I also have gotten a few Kombuchas. Always good as well.
Definitely recommend for a good, quality cup of Joe. They have a nice sitting area which is cool, but parking on the block sucks.
I had tried this place during covid as my office in walking distance. I recently tried them again a couple of times in a row and I liked the coffee.
The coffee is pretty good my second choice in the area when my favorite coffee shop is closed. The second time I tried the coffee, I ordered the Honey cinnamon 1/2 sweet and I actually liked. On my 3rd visit I felt it wasn’t as good for some reason. One of the reason I am giving it 4 is that the consistency wasn’t there. Even though I asked for half sweet the last time it was still too sweet in my opinion and it just wasn’t as good. I will try it again.
The place is cute little shop, it is a bit small so when they get busy it’s kinda hard to move around and the pastry seem nice but I haven’t tried them yet.
The service was good and they seem to be attentive.
Here is the rating based on my taste and opinion. You should always try it for yourself.
4 for Coffee
4 for service
4 for ambiance
? For pastry and food to be determined
Super cute coffee spot with very friendly workers. Came here for an afternoon matcha with a friend, and they had three different kinds of matcha powder which I liked. They customized the sugar level and also were excited to take a Polaroid of my friend’s dog to put on their wall of furry friends. They have some merch for sale and there appears to be a cycling community that patronizes the cafe. There’s no seating available so it’s primarily a takeout spot. Metered street parking available. No public restrooms. They do have food but the kitchen was closed when we were there, so we were unable to partake. They have oat milk.
I pop in here to grab my mushroom coffee on occasion. I grabbed one for a co worker and my total was 17 something. We each had a milk substitute. Coffee is good. Pastries are drool worthy and the one breakfast burrito I could eat was just okay.
The quarters are cramped and it is very dog friendly which for me is fantastic! Service is pretty quick. Parking can be a drag...
Pros :Often have tasty vegan pastries which is brilliant, the coffee is good, try their homemade vanilla bourbon latte, Cons. extra charge for plant milk. Unfortunately nowhere to sit inside (they used to have a high bar along window), all the cups are disposable. Harmful for environment and ruins taste of coffee. There are seats limited outside so it would be good to have the option to have a civilised coffee in a proper cup.
